- Master Order #3 - COVID-19 - April 21, 2020. To help contain the spread of COVID-19, the Alberta Court of Queen's Bench will extend its limitation of hearings to emergency and urgent matters only to May 31, 2020, and the adjournment of criminal jury trials and jury selections to September 8, 2020, per the Court’s Master Order #3 of April 21, 2020. A list of emergency and urgent matters is set out in Appendix D to the Court’s Master Order #3. Parties and/or Counsel who believe that their matter is an emergency or urgent are directed to contact the Court per the Court’s Announcement of March 26, 2020.

- May 5, 2020 - MAY 2020 PANDEMIC OPERATIONS ROSTERS. To assist with scheduling, the Court is releasing the Roster Justices sitting in May 2020. Scheduling does not change; please continue to follow the appropriate protocol.
- May 5, 2020 - LAUNCH OF SUMMARY DISPOSITION COURT. The Court is now hearing Summary Dispositions via Webex in cases where all parties agree to proceed in this manner. Requests for a Summary Disposition Hearing must be made by completing the Summary Disposition Hearing Request Form online. The Court is continuing to follow the Hub model for these hearings – please ensure you select the correct Hub for the Judicial Centre the file is located in. The Justice will appear remotely from the Hub location but the file will remain in its original jurisdiction and it will be clerked there.

- LEGAL AID ALBERTA ASSISTANCE WITH EMERGENCY PROTECTION ORDER REVIEW HEARINGS - Apr 29, 2020. Legal Aid Alberta is providing legal assistance to parties to Court of Queen's Bench Emergency Protection Order Review hearings remotely. - EXTENSION OF THE CAP ON EMAIL AND FAX FILING FEES - Apr 28, 2020. Court of Queen’s Bench Administration has extended the cap on email and fax filing fees until June 30th. In addition to regular filing fees, documents that are filed via email or fax will be charged at the rate of $1 per page, capped to a maximum of $20.

Out-of-Custody
All out-of-custody matters will be adjourned for 10 weeks from the date currently set. Counsel shall not attend for these presumptive 10 week adjournments.
All regional matters will return to their respective regional Case Management Office (CMO) location. If there is no CMO location in the region, it will return to the docket court of that location.
In-Custody
All in-custody matters will proceed including:
- Bail hearings
- Sentencings with a priority given to those facing a time served situation
- Preliminary inquiries and trials
- Youth criminal sentence reviews
The Court will hear urgent out of custody criminal matters with leave of a judge.
The Court will be available to process urgent warrants and judicial authorizations.

Appearances, Trials or Applications
If you have an appearance, trial or application scheduled during the closure, do not attend court in person. Contact the court handling your matter by telephone, e-mail or fax if you:
- do not dispute your ticket but need time to pay,
- wish to adjourn your matter, or
- wish to plead not guilty and set a trial date. Not guilty pleas will also continue to be accepted by mail. Follow the instructions on your ticket for submitting a not guilty plea by mail.
If you fail to contact the court handling your matter on or before your scheduled appearance, trial or application date, you may be convicted in absence or a warrant may be issued for your arrest. If you are convicted in absence, you may be subject to a late payment charge.

Fine payments can be made:
- online at Fine Payments - *NEW* - As part of the overall response to COVID-19, the Government of Alberta has temporarily waived the service fee for online fine payments to assist Albertans while traffic courts are closed to the public.
- by mail to the Provincial Traffic Production Centre, 601 5th Street SW, Calgary, Alberta T2P 5P7
- through a Registry Office
